Plan Recommendation

Enter how many users might be doing each activity at the same time to estimate how much bandwidth is required and which connection speed we recommend.

How to use the calculator

Enter the maximum number of concurrent users that will be involved in each type of online activity when the internet is used the most (usually evenings for most households). The calculator tabulates the total download and upload speeds required to support the identified activities. It will then show how much capacity your required speeds consume of the various plans available and highlights the plan that best fulfils your peak usage needs.

Highlighted Plan vs Best Plan for You

The Peak Usage Calculator is intended to inform one of many considerations when selecting an internet package. The recommended plan for you may vary depending on price, availability, equipment required and even WiFi congestion.

Plan

Represents the service level installed at a premise and represents the maximum speeds attainable. 6/0.8 represents a potential maximum speed of 6Mbps download and 0.8Mbps upload.

Cable

Cable plans operate on DOCSIS technology and requires a cable modem which supports the speed of the service plan.

ADSL vs VDSL

VDSL plans operate on a newer DSL technology than ADSL that is more stable and capable of higher speeds but is not as widely available as ADSL. VDSL plans also require VDSL capable modems.
